One of my favorite things in this world is food. I love eating at different restaurants and experiencing different foods from different cultures. One of the perks of traveling is getting the opportunity to eat amazing food.
I’ve put together a list of my all-time favorite restaurants including places in the US and Europe. Some of these amazing food joints are places I’ve traveled to, and others are places not too far from home!
Restaurants in the U.S.
Being an American citizen and traveling to over 20 US states has given me many opportunities to eat some incredible food. From cafes to bars & grills, I’ve tasted some truly delicious meals and I can’t wait to share my favorites with you!
Breezy Point Bar
The Breezy is one of my all time favorite restaurants and a place I love to eat at multiple times a year. Luckily for me, this cute little restaurant is nestled right along Lake Michigan in Escanaba, Michigan. From giant, juicy burgers to mouth watering chicken quesadillas, the food is nothing compared to the view of the lake.
The Vierling Restaurant & Marquette Harbor Brewery
Not only does the Vierling have incredible food, it’s a historical restaurant located in Marquette, Michigan just a stone’s throw away from Lake Superior. Not only is it a historic place, the Vierling became one of Michigan’s first brew pubs in 1995 with a five barrel micro-brewing system that came from Budapest, Hungary. Delicious food and perfectly brewed ale, what’s not to love?
El Pinto Restaurant
Located in Albuquerque, New Mexico the El Pinto Restaurant is famous for a few reasons. The restaurant has its own brand of salsa and serves the most incredible Mexican food I’ve ever had. I ate there with my family and the quesadilla was so big that my sister and I shared it. It was so delicious!
Not only is the food incredible, El Pinto is the only Animal Welfare Approved restaurant in the nation. There is a hen-laying program on the 5,000 acre property. The restaurant is also very well know by the celebrities who have gone to visit. There is a Wall of Fame with every celebrity and politician who has been there and it has since grown since the last time I ate there!
Some notable celebrities/politicians who have been to El Pinto:
- Cameron Diaz
- Mel Gibson
- David Arquette
- Hillary Clinton
- President Barack Obama
- Sarah Palin
- John McCain
- President George Bush
- Gretchen Wilson
The Lunch Box
This is one of the cutest little cafes I have ever been to. The Lunch Box, located in Trinidad, Colorado is a tiny corner restaurant right along the main street in Trinidad. The coffee is amazing and they offer gluten free food. We stumbled upon the restaurant by accident, but it was well worth it and we even got to enjoy watching the homecoming parade through the windows!
Whiskey Joe’s Bar & Restaurant
Located in Tampa, Florida right off the Courtney Campbell causeway, Whiskey Joe’s is one of my favorite places because it’s right along the beach and has the most incredible views of the bay. The food is incredible too and the drinks are amazing. We ate dinner right out on the deck to watch the sunset and afterwards walked down to the beach where there were string lights and live music.
When I was younger, my family and I took a trip to Minneapolis and visited the Mall of America. While we were there, we ate at Bubba Gump and it’s always been one of my all time favorite places. It’s pretty kid friendly and my siblings and I even got to take home souvenir cups. The food is amazing as well, especially if you’re someone who enjoys fish.
Mitchell’s Fish Market
Another favorite for fish lovers, Mitchell’s Fish Market in East Lansing, Michigan is amazing. I ate there for the first time this year at my cousin’s graduation celebration and the food is truly magnificent. We had appetizers of calamari and fried shrimp and the entrees were so delicious! If you’re looking for a cost-friendly restaurant, this is not the place for you because it is a bit pricey.
Another Florida favorite of mine, Centro Cantina is located in Ybor City, just outside Tampa, Florida. It’s more of a sports bar-type restaurant, but the food is delicious. You have to get the Corona bucket! Sit along the railing on the second floor to people watch and see great views of the city!
Restaurants in Europe
This little Italian restaurant located in Kaiserslautern, Germany is amazing. Ciro has the best white truffle gnocchi and ravioli I have ever tasted. The owners are Italian and relocated from Italy and everything is homemade with their own recipes. Their gnocchi was even better than my grandmother’s!
Another German favorite of mine, Sander’s Cafe is located in Landstuhl, Germany. This is arguably the best breakfast place I have ever been to and the very first place I was introduced to chocolate croissants. I fell in love and every time I go to Europe I have to get a chocolate croissant.
Forneria São Dinis
Forneria São Dinis is located in Ponta Delgada on the Portuguese island São Miguel. The island, located in the Azores, has some of the best food I’ve ever had. The food is locally grown and sourced and the restaurant does a fantastic job. I had a slice of fresh pineapple for dessert and it was the best thing I’ve ever had. Not to mention the shrimp salad I had was amazing. The restaurant was so good we went back a second time before flying back to Germany.
Another favorite of mine in Ponta Delgada, this burger place is a little hard to find, but incredibly worth it! I’m very picky about my burgers and how they’re cooked, and Supléxio made me one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. I’ve you’re ever in São Miguel, it would be a shame to miss out on this place!
My brother and I happened to stumble upon Osteria Spaghetti while walking the streets of Rome last December. It was a very chilly day and we had been up since around 7 in the morning and wanted to stop somewhere for lunch. This cute, little restaurant is very difficult to find and we only stumbled upon it by accident because they were bringing tables outside to seat guests and had giant torches for warmth. We decided to stop and it was the best decision we could have made!
My brother and I shared a margherita pizza, bread with olive oil and had some incredible white wine for lunch. It was the perfect place to stop while wandering the streets of Rome. Unfortunately there is no website for the restaurant, but it’s located at: Via della Maddalena, 29, 00186 Roma RM, Italy
Located in Bled, Slovenia, Confectionery Zima is one of my favorite places because it seriously satisfies my sweet tooth. This is the place to get the famous Bled Cream Cake, plus there are so many other delicious desserts to choose from. I love sugar, chocolate and carbs and this place really hit the spot.
I know there are a lot of restaurants listed here, but this list is nothing compared to the places I’ve actually been. These are the most notable and my favorite of all time! If you ever have the chance to eat at one of these places, you’re in for a real treat!
What are some of your favorite restaurants, anywhere in the world? Have you been to any of the ones I’ve listed?
