They say third time’s the charm, right? Today I officially re-branded my blog!
It may come as a surprise to some of you that this isn’t my first time re-branding. In fact, Chantel Elizabeth is the third name this blog has had since its creation earlier this year. When I first started my blog, it was created as a travel blog called: Wayfarer Wanderlust.
I’ve been in love with traveling for as long as I can remember, so I thought starting a travel blog was the perfect idea! Just a month or so after launching, I realized that I had boxed myself into a corner because I wanted to talk about much more than travel.

So I decided to re-brand and transform my little work in progress to a lifestyle blog called: What in the Hello. I really liked the name at first. It seemed to flow nicely and it wasn’t niche specific so I didn’t have to worry about not being able to talk about certain topics.
I got some great feedback from readers who seemed to like the name, but others seemed a little sarcastic about it. It was a bit of a mouth full to say out loud and eventually I started to dislike the name. I wanted to branch out even more. I wanted to start reaching out to brands and other people to collaborate and create sponsored content so I can turn my blog into something much more than just a lifestyle blog.
In July I created a site called The Influencer Nation and I neglected my blog for months. It was a huge mistake and I came to regret it after I realized how I had hurt myself. I immediately shut down the TIN at the end of August and started focusing my efforts 100% to my blog and it paid off much quicker than I ever thought possible.
I decided to commit to my blog for the whole month of September and see what kind of results it could give me. It’s incredible the things that can happen when you put your time and effort into something you care about. It’s even more incredible to take a step back and see how far you’ve actually come.
It’s almost the end of September (just a few more days left!) and I am truly shocked at the progress I’ve made. As of 9/26/18 I have reached 7,500+ pageviews and my Pinterest has jumped from 15,000 to almost 50,000 monthly views! I’ve never gotten more than 1,500 pageviews in an entire month! The 26th alone I got over 1,000 pageviews and I just can’t believe it.
Before you ask, I did not invest any money into ads. I didn’t buy any ebooks. I didn’t take any courses online, I just put the work in and figured it out myself. Tailwind was a HUGE help to me though. I got a free month and you bet I utilized it and in just a few days saw my Pinterest stats go from 15,000 to 30,000.
It’s definitely worth it and I highly recommend you give it a try! Plus, if you sign up through my link, you get a free month of Tailwind Plus! You get to try out the free version of Tailwind for as long as you want, and if you don’t like it, you don’t have to use it. But if you love it like I do, you can upgrade and you’ll get your free month!
Seeing those statistics and realizing that hard work and effort truly does pay off made me realize it was time to take the next step. What in the Hello had come so far, but I could only image what changing the name could do for me. I wanted to change it to something much more personal, so I chose my own name.
One of the biggest goals a blogger has is to connect to their readers. Their audience has to feel some sort of connection to them, otherwise it’s going to be difficult to build a good relationship and truly feel like they can get something out of coming to your blog.
That’s a huge reason why I wanted to change the name. I wanted to make it personal so that people coming to my blog could really connect with me. My blog would no longer be just a lifestyle blog called What in the Hello with a person behind the scenes writing and creating. I would be able to step out from behind the shadows and show people that I’m here! I’m a person just like you who is trying their best to navigate through this world and show you who I am through my writing and my creativity.
Changing the name of my blog and re-branding puts a face to the name. What do you think of when you hear What in the Hello? You probably wonder what the blog could be about and might laugh at the name. But what do you think of when you hear Chantel Elizabeth? I now become a person and this becomes much more than a blog, and that’s why I wanted to change things.
I wanted to break out of my own shell and expand the things that I’m doing. I wanted the opportunity to make a living by doing something that I love, and it’s much more possible under the new name. Not only that, but I’ve also started doing stock photography and created Chic by Chantel and my previous brand was not aligned with the goals that I have now.
Sometimes the things you’ve been doing might not be the things you want to be doing. It’s okay to take a step back and reassess the path that you’re on because you might discover something much better for yourself.
I’ve been making a lot of mistakes over the past few months, and it was because I didn’t know the path that I truly wanted to take. I thought I wanted something that everyone else wanted, and eventually I realized that I didn’t want it at all and that what I did want was much different. Don’t do things just because other people are doing them. Do things because you want to do them and because it makes you happy.
This blog isn’t just about recipes, travel and life, it’s about my life. It’s about the things that I’ve done, the places I’ve been to, the experiences I’ve had, the advice I want to share. Don’t be afraid to be yourself, even if it means exposing yourself to the world and being vulnerable. Stay true to you!
