It’s officially the New Year! One of my favorite things about starting fresh is going through my closet and getting rid of clothes. I have so many clothes that are old, clothes I’ve never even worn, and clothes I know I’ll never wear again.
My style seems to change with the seasons and this winter I’m really feeling neutral colors. I have a lot of reds, dark blues and printed clothing in my closet that I never wear. I know I’m probably never going to wear those clothes again, so there’s no point in keeping them in my closet.
One thing I want to focus on this year is my style. It always seems to be changing and I feel like I’m in fashion limbo. That’s why I want to seriously go through my clothes and donate the ones I don’t want to keep. I’ve lost my style identity and this year I’m on a mission to find it!
Right now I’m currently crushing on sweaters and lots of layers. It’s freezing cold in Michigan and there’s snow everywhere so I have to be practical when I put together an outfit. This month I’m also starting a new job as a High School teacher and it’s going to take some time for me to re-build my wardrobe with work-friendly attire.
I’m really not the type of person who likes to wear a lot of bright, colorful clothes. I like wearing whites, grays, blacks, brown and blue. I’ll wear patterns sometimes, as long as they aren’t over the top. I’m also obsessed with a chunky heel right now, so I love wearing heeled boots with a small, chunky heel that I can wear during the school day and then head straight into date night.
Like I said, I really love neutral colors. I think they go perfect with my skin tone and they look good with everything. I can add a pop of color with a scarf, a hand bag or shoes if I feel like my outfit is too boring. I have a bright red coat that I LOVE to wear during the winter, so that’s another huge reason I like sticking to neutral colors with the rest of my outfit. A coat can make just as big a statement!
